The Introspective Model of Genuine Knowledge in Wang Yangming

This article presents a new interpretation of the great Ming dynasty philosopher Wang Yangming’s (1472–1529) celebrated doctrine “unity knowledge and action” (知行合一). held that action was not unified with all knowledge, but only an elevated form which he sometimes called “genuine knowledge” (真知). I argue for this notion, according to genuine requires freedom from doxastic conflict. propose that, in Wang’s view, person is free conflict if they are acting virtuously.
